Hyderabad in all its glory!

Yes folks, this week’s topic is Hyderabad, abode to the beautiful Charminar, one of the most popular travel destinations in Indian Deccan Plateau. It is named after the wife of its ruler Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, Hyder. Having a history of over 400 years it’s a perfect destination for an astute traveller. Explore the historical monuments, shimmering lakes, stunning museums, temples, gardens and zoos.

Principal among the recorded destinations in Hyderabad is the Charminar, a grand structure renowned for its engineering excellence. Arranged in the heart of the city, it is an imperative milestone in Hyderabad. An alternate vacation spot here is the Golconda Fort, a sixteenth century fortification arranged on the western edge of Hyderabad city.

Known for its gathering of precious stones, it is said that the celebrated Kohinoor initially belonged Golconda.

Some two hundred yards southwest of the Charminar is the Mecca Masjid, so named because the bricks were brought from Mecca to build the central arch. The Qutb Shahis never finished the building of the mosque, which was completed by Aurangzeb in 1694. You see everything here has a history in itself.

The wonderful past of Golconda Fort is described viably with inimitable Sound and Light impacts. The novel Sound & Light Show takes you right back in time, when Golconda was brimming with life, eminence and loftiness.

The tombs of the legendary Qutb Shahi rulers lie around a kilometer far from Banjara Darwaza of the Golconda Fort. Another masterpiece here is the Birla Temple. This white marble temple of Lord Venkateshwara floats on the city skyline, on Kala Pahad. The idol in the temple is a replica of the one at Tirumala Tirupati. And if you are near birla temple you wouldn’t want to miss Birla Planetarium. It’s one of its kinds in the country equipped with Japanese technology and is tribute to the advancement of science and tech in India.

Built in several phases by the Nizams between 1857-1869, ChowMahalla palace comprises of four palaces in itself. Have a look at this to witness the old Mughal and European style of archtechture and style.

Another attractive place is the well-known Chilkul Balaji temple. It is one of the most sought places and approximately a hundred thousand pilgrims pay a visit every week and is an ideal place for sequestered retreat and meditation.

Come-on people admit it everybody loves the fresh fragrance of plants and flowers and wouldn’t want to miss the first botanical garden in this state. Then there are a number of National parks in and around the city, KBR National Park, Mrugavani National Park, Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park, and Nehru Zoological Park.

Then comes museums on the list which is two, the AP State Archaeological museum and Salar Jung Museum. They are open in the day for exhibit for people to admire the richest repositories of antiques and art objects in the country.

As is known Hyderabad was built on the river Musi, it houses lakes as well. Osmansagar Lake and Shamirpet. The speciality of these two lakes is they supply drinking water to the whole of the city.

Not to forget the fun part of this city the amusement parks and the Ramoji Film City. It’s the largest film city in the world and houses 24 sound stages, a railways station and much more. And last but not the least the shopping areas. Never leave a place without taking something exclusive from there to keep as a memento.

Shopping in Hyderabad will be a fascinating experience for the tourist. Hyderabad is famous for its bidriware, lac bangles, banjara mirrors, ikat and kalamkari fabric, pochampalli and venkatgiri sarees, leather puppets, kondapalli toys, perfumes and pearls A major trading center for centuries, it has been influenced by cultures from all directions - largely because its former rulers controlled both of India's coastlines. -- NIKITA AGARWAL

Basheerbagh-Abids-Nampally can be considered to be the most prominent shopping area in Hyderabad. Some of the biggest showrooms for jewellery, textiles, handicrafts, footwear, readymade and general goods are located in this area. The very own MG Road has all sorts of things on sale, from clothes to brass and jewellery to fruits you can find everything here.

Foodddd, people food. How can we forget the Hyderabadi biryani.Rice being the staple food here, Biryani is prepared in a number of forms with different vegetables and spices topped with mutton or chicken. Hyderabadi keema, pathar ka gosht, dum ka keema, rezalas, dopiyazas and kormas of meat are preferred by the non-vegetarians. Among the vegetable platters, one may choose tamateki kut, churri, dalcha, baghara baingan, kubuli, mirch ka salan, and many more.

Haleem, one of the trademark dishes of the Muslims, is prepared in abundance in the city. The cuisine can never be complete without desserts and Hyderabad is not behind in that. One may try the qubani ka meetha, gil-e-firdaus, badam ki jhab, sheer korma, gajar ka halwa, mauz ka meetha, and the famous firni.

It’s easy to commute within the city with the help of AP state busses or the private ones, there are a plenty of auto-rickshaws as well and the facility of taxi on hire. Another benefit of this city is accommodation. Ayderababd has number of hotel in all ranges including the Taj and ITC.
