“Travel is a caprice in childhood, a passion in youth, a necessity in manhood, and an elegy in old age.” ~Dr. Jose P. Rizal
Some people I know, when they are really stressed out, take an afternoon, evening or a full day off. The next day, they are back to work. Others kick it for a weekend, and then dive back into the daily routine on Monday morning. I’m flipping through my mental rolodex of friends, associates and family and, to my horror, I realize that I don’t know anyone who takes a real vacation.
People say they take vacations when they go for water rafting or hiking with some friends. But I’m sorry dear, this isn’t a vacation. It’s just like you diverted all your energy from your daily routine work to achieve a different goal of hiking some heights.
However, taking a real vacation is what people at work are afraid of. They are scared that they will lose their job. People who take their phone and laptops on their vacations cannot even relax and have some real fun there. I wonder if people will take these gadgets to their grave and check their afterlife news.
Vacations or holidays are not just about getting away, although that’s the part that makes us smile. They are also about giving up on being productive.
It is not simple to take a genuine get-away. You can hope to have nervousness or gloom or blame around it. There will probably be panic about all you need to perform before you go and after you get back. Fine. There's a spot for frenzy. Given it a chance to be so. What's more keep doing what you are doing: anticipating credible, genuine time off.
Your get-away may be used in Bali or Brazil, or it might be closer to home. It can be a combo of travel and stay-at-home-with-gadgets shut. The term for this is "staycation". The "where" is less important than the "how". The "how" includes taking your feet and going off the treadmill, for real.
Contrary to popular belief, travel is not a luxury. Vacations are an essential part of your well-being and offer many health benefits. How else would you get away from it all, and escape the stress of home and work. Travel is a full proof way to avoid burn out and keep your sanity in ways you can’t imagine:
Travel reduces stress
Travel lifts ones mood.
Travel makes one more creative.
Travel evolves one in a different way.
